A little side line from juiceproducer's normal topics but this book is excellent, worthwhile and the debut effort of a good friend of ours! We've all read it and find it not only highly enjoyable, but really rather important, a book that challenges you to put this civilisation of ours into context, packed with facts and good cheer, it is a book none of us could put down!

We'll let the author sum it up:

  • London 2005 – the Jolly Pilgrim sets off on a bicycle ride to Istanbul, planning a rendezvous with the girl he wants to marry.
  • Eighteen months later and halfway around the world, following hospitalisations, financial meltdown, torment and heartbreak,he goes to live as a hermit in South America, to explore a collection of ideas about humanity’s place in the universe.
  • He swims the Bosporus and works in a drag club,
  • Hitchhikes across Australia and dances salsa in an Ecuadorian prison,
  • Experiences rapture and revelation amidst talismanic historical and religious sites.
  • Endures love, voyeurism, bees, ants, sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and in response, conceives …

a message of hope for civilisation.

Part adventure story, part reflection on the state of our species, this profoundly uplifting, real-life odyssey ends with a call-to-arms for the human race to be more honest about itself.

It’s time to think bigger

5I have to say I loved this book!

I have to say I took a punt on this book, purely out of curiosity really, and I'm so glad I did, it covers so much, a travel adventure, a thesis on humanity and a DIY guide to positivity! I loved it, well worth the punt!
