By lummy, it's a bewildering array of machines out there, masticating (careful) centrifugal, twin gear, single auger, feed tubes, ease of cleaning, will it do wheatgrass, can it make pasta? questions questions!
Let us help! we've used all the machines back to back so we'd like to think we have a good impartial viewpoint of whats what! And let me just say ALL juicers are good!! Fresh juice is better than no juice so just GET JUICING!
First let's start with centrifugal juicers, like the good ol L'equip mini

Now I like this little fella, plenty of power, long guarantee and well made, a great juicy starting point. I have to say if you're feeding juice to kids this is the machine you need. The l'equip mini's fine cuttinng basket gives you a clean juice that's near to carton juice with no bits in! Great for fussy eaters!
The drawback with these machines is thus, and this goes for ALL centrifugals. They can be right messy beasts!! You get great juicing speed but they are a little laborious to clean!.
Verdict great for making juice for kids, not so good to live with or in terms of nutrient retention. |

Nutritionally speaking (ain't that kinda what we are juicing for?) the speed at which centrifugal juicers work tends to burn off some of the nutrient content. They also whip quite a lot of oxygen into the juice which means you have to drink the juice quick before it goes off (oxidises). In summary a great juicing starting point and one whole heap better than no juice at all, but if you want to get the maxium health benfits you need to look at a single auger juicer like the Matstone 6 in 1.
Also the centrigual style of machine WILL NOT DO WHEATGRASS

Matstone juicers are also flexible machines, equally at home making pasta or sauce or babyfood! very versatile, easy to clean but know one thing you do have to cut things up a little for the feed tube! This style of machine gives you a "live juice" that you can refridgerate and is best for health benefits!

Verdict huge value, versatile machine, nutrient rich juice, easy to clean and quiet operation! Now with 2007 revisions has to be in contention for the best juicer on the site! deserving of the JP top banana award. |

now, say you have a centrugal juicer and you want to do leafy greens or wheatgrass, now for £100 you can with the LiveEnzyme juicer from Easyhealth. It's not quite as polished as the Oscar Vitalmax or Matstone juicers but it's less than half the price! A great way to get the additional health benefits of auger juicing. 2 year head warranty and 8 years on the motor is good too. We have a classic case of getting what you pay for here, The Easyhealth, then the Matstone, then the Oscar Vitalmax getting steadily pricier and better!
Verdict great value, nutrient rich juice, but lacks the nice user friendly touches of the Oscar or the Matstone

The Champion juicer is a rock solid machine and a rapid auger style juicer, built to be super strong and give years of trouble free juicing! It's a big beast too, so make sure you have room for it in your kitchen!
The Champion's auger spins at 1400 rpm so you do lose a little nutrition value of the juice at the benefit of juicing speed BUT this machine is not too good for wheatgrass although it is an auger machine. So if you want to do the green super juices we recommend the Matstone or Oscar |
