How to buy the right parts for your Matstone or Samson 6 in 1 single auger juicer
The Matstone 6 in 1 single auger juicer has been a firm favourite cold press juicer for years now, but it has changed over that time so selecting the correct spare parts can be confusing.
The design of the juicing screen and grinding screen or mincing cone changed in the year 2007, this also meant that the drum and guide or main barrel changed too. The drum changed to accommodate the new screen so it is important to match all the parts up.
The pre 2007 parts
The juicing and mincing screen are a straightforward cone shape with top and bottom edges flat and parallel. This corresponds with a shoulder moulding on the drum and guide that runs at 90 degrees to the run of the barrel. These machines all have a green auger (central screw)
The 2007+ parts
In 2007 the juicing screen and mincing screen were changed to incorporate an elliptical lip on the larger diameter. The drum and guide or barrel changed to accommodate the new screen. This now means that the shoulder on the barrel is at approximately 45 degrees. Again these machines have the green auger.
The grey auger and advance auger
The next change happened with the arrival of the advance version of the Matstone or Samson 6 in 1 juicer. The stainless steel drive shaft of the auger went up in diameter a few millimetres. This means the advance barrel has a larger diameter whole in the back to accommodate the larger shaft diameter. The barrel only suits the black and stainless steel tipped auger of the advance model.
To add slightly to the scenario the typical green auger (the rotary screw part) was released in a grey colour, some of these shared the same stainless steel shaft diameter as the green auger and some share the larger diameter shaft of the advance black and stainless tipped auger.
